Bridal Boudoir Detroit | The Most Unforgettable Pre-Wedding Gift

Bridal boudoir detroit sessions at my Ferndale studio are one of the most personal things I photograph — a few hours that belong entirely to you, before the vows, before the party, before the blur of it all sets in.

That’s where bridal boudoir comes in.

A boudoir session before your wedding isn’t about being “that kind of person.” It’s about carving out a few hours that are entirely, unapologetically yours before the vows, before the party, before the blur of it all sets in.

What Is Bridal Boudoir Photography?

Bridal boudoir is a photography session — typically in the weeks or months before your wedding where you show up for yourself. Some brides bring their veil. Some wear their something-blue lingerie. Some come in a silk robe and let the session unfold from there.

The images you walk away with are yours to do with whatever you want. Many brides present them as a gift on the morning of the wedding with a handwritten note tucked into a beautiful album, delivered before your person sees you walk down the aisle. Others keep them completely private. There’s no wrong answer.

What they all have in common: they walk out of the studio seeing themselves differently than when they walked in.

Why Detroit Brides Choose to Do This

Weddings are performative by nature. You’re on, all day, for everyone. The bridal boudoir session is the opposite of that. It’s just you, the camera, and a few hours where nothing is required of you except to show up.

I’ve photographed brides who came in saying they were doing this “as a gift for them.” By the time we’re done, they always say the same thing: this was actually for me.

That’s the thing about seeing yourself, really seeing yourself, posed and lit and held; right before one of the biggest transitions of your life. It anchors you. It reminds you who you are before you become a spouse, a partner, a new version of yourself.

What a Bridal Session Looks Like at My Ferndale Studio

You arrive. Hair and makeup is handled. I get you camera-ready while you settle in and start to breathe.

We talk through what you’re feeling, what you want, what you’re nervous about. I’m not going to rush past that part. The conversation before the camera comes out matters.

Then we shoot. I guide every single pose; you don’t need to know what to do with your hands, how to angle your body, or what “sultry” looks like on your face. That’s my job. Yours is to breathe, trust, and let me show you what I see.

Afterward, you’ll have a private reveal where you choose your favorite images and select your collection. Most brides invest between $3,200 and $6,000 depending on the experience they choose.

And if you want to present the album as a wedding morning gift? I’ll help you with that too.

What to Bring

Your veil. Heirloom jewelry. Your partner’s favorite shirt or tie. Something sentimental that tells your story. Lace lingerie, a silk robe, heels or barefoot… whatever makes you feel like the most alive version of yourself.

Bring 3–5 options and we’ll talk through what to shoot in what order before we start. Not sure what to bring? Reach out before your session and I’ll help you plan it.

What Brides Say

“Magan is absolutely phenomenal. My session was very empowering and fun. Magan does a great job ensuring you are comfortable and guiding you through each pose, helping you feel confident and beautiful. The studio is intimate and the perfect place. This is an experience you won’t regret. Sharing the photos with my special someone right before my wedding was the perfect gift.” — Brandy, Bride

You Don’t Have to Look a Certain Way

There is no body type, age, size, or shape that belongs in front of my camera more than another. I have photographed brides in their 20s and their 50s. Brides who cried when they saw their photos because they’d never seen themselves that way. Brides who came in sure they’d hate everything and left ordering the full album.

The session is designed around you. Not a template, not a Pinterest board, not what you think you’re supposed to look like.

When Should You Book?

Most brides book their session 6–8 weeks before the wedding. This gives enough time for the images to be delivered, printed, and packaged beautifully before the big day.

If your wedding is coming up quickly, reach out anyway — I’ll tell you whether we can make it work.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do I have to wear lingerie? No. Wear whatever makes you feel beautiful — your wedding dress, a cozy sweater, a silk robe, or nothing at all. The session is built around what feels right for you.

Is hair and makeup included? Yes, with every session. You arrive with a fresh face and clean dry hair and I handle everything from there.

How far in advance should I book? 6–8 weeks before your wedding is ideal. This allows time for editing, printing, and packaging your album before the big day. But most people book several months in advance.

Will the images be private? Completely. Images are only ever shared publicly with your explicit written permission. Many brides keep their session entirely private and that is fully respected.

What’s the investment? The session fee is $750, which comes off your total collection. Most brides invest between $3,200 and $6,000 depending on the artwork and images they choose. Payment plans are available through Affirm, Klarna, and an in-house 0% interest option.

Where is the studio? 800 Hilton Rd, Ferndale, Michigan — easy to reach from Detroit, Royal Oak, Birmingham, and Ann Arbor.
