Destination boudoir photography means one thing — the session happens where it’s supposed to happen. Sometimes that’s my private studio in Ferndale Michigan. Sometimes it’s a candlelit suite in a boutique hotel in New Orleans. Sometimes it’s a cliff overlooking the ocean in Portugal. Sometimes it’s a cabin deep in the northern Michigan woods with snow on the ground and a fire going inside.
I go where the session calls for. And I’ve learned that the location isn’t just a backdrop; it’s part of the story.
Two Ways to Do This : Experience Destination Boudoir Photography
There are two versions of a destination boudoir session and both of them are extraordinary in completely different ways.
You come to me. My private studio in Ferndale Michigan is a controlled, intentional environment built entirely around making you feel at ease. Consistent light. Studio sets. Complete privacy. Hair and makeup done by me personally as a licensed stylist. Everything handled from the moment you arrive. Women travel from Chicago, Indianapolis, Columbus, Cleveland, and across the country for this experience — and every single one of them says the drive was worth it.

I come to you. You pick the location. A boutique hotel suite in your city. A vineyard in wine country. A beachside Airbnb in Florida. A mountain cabin in Colorado. A forest in the Pacific Northwest. A villa in Italy. I pack my gear, I get on a plane, and I bring the session to you. Wherever you want to be — wherever feels most like you — that’s where we shoot.
Both versions are available. Both are fully guided. Both produce images that stop you cold.
Why Location Changes Everything
There’s something that happens when a session takes place somewhere that means something to you.
A woman who shoots in her own bedroom — the room she shares with her partner, the room where she’s most herself — brings a different energy to that session than a woman in a studio. A woman who shoots in a hotel suite in a city she’s always wanted to visit — somewhere that represents something she’s been building toward — brings something different still.
The location doesn’t make the images better technically. What it does is make the woman in front of the camera more fully present. More at home. More herself. And that always shows up in the work.
I’ve photographed women in forests and hotel suites, in vineyards and mountain cabins, in Airbnbs and historic estates. Every location teaches me something new about what the camera can do when the environment is right.

What a Travel Session Looks Like
You choose the location. We talk through it together — the light, the vibe, the logistics, what you’re imagining. I’ll give you honest feedback about what will and won’t work photographically and we’ll land on something that serves both your vision and the images.
Travel and accommodations are covered by you — flights, hotel, any location fees. This is standard for destination photography and keeps the session investment clean and predictable. I’ll give you a full breakdown of what I’ll need for any given location so there are no surprises.
For international sessions we plan further in advance — typically 3 to 6 months depending on destination. For domestic travel I can often turn around bookings within 4 to 8 weeks depending on my schedule.
On session day I bring everything — lighting, equipment, and for studio-style sessions a portable hair and makeup kit. For fully outdoor sessions in natural light the environment provides everything we need and we work with what the location gives us.
The session itself runs 2 to 4 hours depending on the scope. Some travel sessions are more editorial — a few strong looks in a single location. Some are more expansive — multiple looks across different spaces within the same venue. We’ll design it together based on what you’re going for.
Locations I’ve Shot In
Michigan — northern Michigan cabins, Detroit and Metro Detroit, Sleeping Bear Dunes, the Upper Peninsula, lakeside properties across the state.
The Midwest — Chicago hotel suites. But the whole region is accessible.
The South and East Coast — Nashville, New Orleans, New York, the Carolinas, Florida.
The West — Colorado mountains, Pacific Northwest forests, Arizona, and the California coast.
International — I’ll go anywhere the session calls for. Europe, the Caribbean, Mexico, beyond. If the location is right and the timing works let’s talk about it.
If you have somewhere specific in mind that isn’t on this list — reach out anyway. I’ve yet to say no to a location that felt right for the work.

The Kinds of Sessions That Come Alive on Location
Forest and outdoor boudoir. There’s nothing like natural light filtered through trees. Dark and moody, witchy, ethereal — outdoor sessions in wooded locations produce some of the most otherworldly images I’ve ever made. Northern Michigan and the Pacific Northwest are particularly extraordinary for this.
Hotel suite boudoir. A beautifully designed hotel room is one of the most versatile shooting environments there is. Soft morning light, rumpled sheets, floor-to-ceiling windows with a city skyline — hotel sessions are intimate and cinematic simultaneously.
Vacation and travel boudoir. You’re already going somewhere. Maybe it’s a solo trip you’ve been planning. Maybe it’s an anniversary trip. Maybe it’s a bucket list destination you’ve been working toward for years. Adding a boudoir session to an existing trip is one of the most natural extensions of that experience — a few hours to document yourself in a moment and a place that mattered.
Destination elopement boudoir. You’re getting married somewhere extraordinary. The morning before the ceremony belongs to you. A boudoir session before your elopement — in the location where you’re getting married — is some of the most powerful work I’ve ever been part of.
Home sessions. Sometimes the most meaningful location is the one you already live in. Your bedroom. Your home. The space where you’re most yourself. For the right woman a home session produces images more personal and more true than anything a studio can offer.
Who This Is For
The woman who has a specific vision she can’t execute in a traditional studio. The woman who wants to document herself in a place that means something. The woman who is already traveling somewhere and wants to bring the experience with her. The woman who lives somewhere beautiful and wants to be photographed there. The woman who doesn’t want to fly to Michigan but wants to work with me.
Also — the woman who wants to fly to Michigan. My studio is a destination too. Both are valid. Both are available.
The Investment
Studio sessions at my Ferndale location — session fee of $750 which comes off your total collection. Most clients invest between $3,200 and $6,000 depending on products chosen. Payment plans available through Affirm, Klarna, and an in-house 0% interest option.
Travel sessions — same session fee and collection investment. Travel expenses — flights, accommodation, any location fees — are covered by you and arranged separately. I’ll give you a full breakdown of what I need for your specific destination when we’re in the planning stages.
For international sessions reach out early. I take a limited number of travel sessions per year and dates fill based on my existing schedule.
Frequently Asked Questions
Do you travel internationally for boudoir sessions? Yes. Anywhere the session calls for. Europe, the Caribbean, Mexico, beyond. International sessions require more lead time — typically 3 to 6 months — and travel expenses are covered by the client. Reach out with your vision and your timeline and we’ll figure out if it’s possible.
How far in advance do I need to book a travel session? Domestic travel — 4 to 8 weeks depending on my schedule. International — 3 to 6 months. The earlier the better for any travel session since it involves coordinating schedules, flights, and logistics.
What if I want to shoot outdoors but I’m not sure my location will work? Tell me what you’re imagining and I’ll give you an honest read on the light and logistics. I’ve shot in a lot of different outdoor environments and I know what works and what doesn’t photographically. If your first choice location has issues we’ll find an alternative that gives you the same feeling with better results.
Do you do hair and makeup for travel sessions? For travel sessions with portable kit access — yes. For fully outdoor remote sessions the approach is different and we’ll talk through it during planning. Reach out and let’s discuss what makes sense for your specific session.
What happens if the weather doesn’t cooperate for an outdoor session? We plan for it. Every outdoor travel session has a contingency — a covered location, an interior space, an alternative plan. I’ve never had a session fall apart because of weather because we plan well enough that we always have somewhere to go.
Can I combine a studio session in Michigan with an on-location session somewhere else? Yes — some clients do both. A studio session one day and an outdoor or location session another. Reach out and we can design something that covers both.
How do I start planning a destination boudoir session? Reach out here with your vision — where you’re thinking, when you’re thinking, and what you’re imagining for the session. I’ll respond personally and we’ll figure out together whether the timing and location work.
