Fine Art Outdoor Boudoir Photography in Michigan
Fine art outdoor boudoir photography in Michigan looks nothing like a studio session — and that’s exactly the point.
The forest doesn’t care about your angles. The light doesn’t ask you to perform. The wind moves through you and the camera catches what happens when a woman stops holding herself in and just exists in a place that’s been waiting for her.
I’ve photographed women in the woods of northern Michigan, at the edge of Lake Michigan at golden hour, in fields and on cliff edges and in places that felt like they were built for exactly this. Every time the location does something a studio can’t — it gives you somewhere to disappear into, and what comes back out is something truer.

What Fine Art Outdoor Boudoir Actually Is
It’s not a nude photoshoot. It’s not provocative for the sake of it. It’s not about being seen in a way that makes you self-conscious — it’s about being seen in a way that makes you forget to be.
Fine art outdoor boudoir is intentional. It’s intimate. It’s built around the specific quality of light at a specific time of day in a specific place that we chose together because it felt right for you. The images are less about lingerie and more about presence. Less about pose and more about breath.
Women who book outdoor sessions with me tend to want something that feels less produced and more honest. Something that looks like them on their best day in a place they actually love. Something that could hang on a wall as art — because it is.

What a Session Looks Like
We start with location. You might have somewhere specific in mind — a forest you love, a lake you’ve been going to since childhood, a property that means something to you. Or you might have no idea where and you want me to find it. Both are fine. I know Michigan and I know what photographs.
We shoot at golden hour when the light is doing most of the work. I guide every pose — even outdoors, even in nature, even when it feels like there are no rules, the posing is intentional and I’m directing constantly. You don’t show up knowing what to do. You show up and I figure it out for you.
Hair and makeup depends on the session. For some outdoor sessions I handle it personally at a location nearby before we shoot. For others the natural look is the point and we keep it minimal. We’ll talk through what makes sense for your specific vision before your session.
The images are retouched and delivered to your private gallery the same way studio sessions are — privately, on your timeline, no pressure.

The Locations I Work In
Northern Michigan — the birch and pine forests, the dunes, the shoreline. These are some of the most extraordinary natural environments in the country and they photograph like nothing else.
Lake Michigan — the light on the water at golden hour is otherworldly. Beach sessions, shoreline sessions, the kind of images that look like they were taken somewhere far more exotic than two hours from Detroit.
Private properties — if you have land, a cabin, a space that means something to you, I’ll come to you. Some of my favorite outdoor sessions have been on clients’ own property where the location carried personal meaning into every image.
Beyond Michigan — I travel for outdoor sessions. The desert. Mountains. Coastlines. International locations. If you have a place in mind that isn’t Michigan reach out and let’s talk about whether it’s possible. Almost always it is.
“Magan doesn’t just “take photos” – she creates a safe space to honor your body exactly as you are. Boudoir with her isn’t about chasing perfection or pretending to be someone you’re not. Rather, it’s about embracing your truth, uncovering your innate beauty, and celebrating yourself in all your evolving forms. If you are on a journey of learning to love yourself like I am, I cannot recommend Magan enough. She has a rare gift for capturing not only how you look, but who you are, gently guiding you just beyond your comfort zone while fostering a safe and accepting environment above all else. She will show you a version of yourself you may have never seen before, and give you the chance to hold onto that perspective for years to come.” – Jamie

Who This Is For
The woman who has been thinking about boudoir but doesn’t connect with the studio aesthetic. The woman who feels most herself outside — in nature, in movement, in uncontrolled environments. The woman who wants images that look like fine art because they were made that way.
Also the woman who already has a studio session and wants something completely different for a second one. Outdoor and studio sessions together tell a fuller story than either does alone.
The Investment
On-location sessions in Michigan — same session fee as studio sessions at $750 which comes off your total collection. Travel within Michigan is included for most locations. Collections from $3,200.
Out of state and international sessions — travel expenses are covered by you and arranged separately. Reach out and we’ll talk through the specifics for your location.
Frequently Asked Questions
Do I need to be comfortable being nude outdoors? No. Fine art outdoor boudoir at my studio ranges from fully clothed in flowing fabric to implied — it’s entirely your call and we’ll talk through your comfort level before we ever get to the location. Nothing happens that you’re not completely on board with.
What time of year is best for outdoor sessions in Michigan? Late spring through early fall is ideal — May through October. Golden hour in June and September is particularly extraordinary. Winter sessions are possible for the right aesthetic but require specific planning.
How do you handle privacy for outdoor sessions? Location selection is a major part of how we protect your privacy. I choose or scout locations specifically for their seclusion. We’re never shooting in public spaces where strangers will walk through. Your comfort and privacy are non-negotiable.
Can I choose the location? Absolutely. If you have somewhere specific in mind tell me and I’ll assess whether the light and logistics work. If you have no idea where, I’ll find somewhere that fits your vision.
What should I wear? For outdoor sessions I usually recommend bringing a mix — something flowy and loose that moves with wind, something that photographs well against natural textures, and something personal to you. We’ll talk through it before your session.
How far do you travel for outdoor sessions? Anywhere in Michigan without additional travel fees for most locations. Out of state and international with travel covered by you. Reach out with your location and we’ll figure it out.
